When I first started this project my mom and I ran across a quote that really inspired us as we tackled doing something that neither of us knew a thing about. It’s by a man who is very well known in blogging circles. He wrote a great article some time ago about how important it is to start. Even when what you are doing isn’t perfect or exactly what you want it to be.
“Choose one small thing to start with that will move you toward your dream and do it to the best of your ability”
Darren goes on to say that we all have to start somewhere, our work may not be exactly what we hope it to be, but it’s better to do our current best than not get started at all.
Why am I telling you all this? Well. Today I am introducing my very first video interview ever. There will be no doubt in your mind that it is the first video interview I’ve ever done. It has been one of the hardest things we have done so far on TeensGotCents and it is far from perfect. However, we did it without any special equipment (although we did have to spend $30 bucks to get the recording software) and to the best of my current abilities. And I’m proud to present my interview with Philip Taylor of PT Money!
We talk about how he got interested in personal finance blogging, why he started PT Money and he offers some advice for teens regarding planning for our financial future. It was so much fun to talk to PT in person.
One of my favorite posts on his site is about what we fear vs. what we should fear. PT and I talk about it in the interview and it’s really funny. I would also recommend taking a look at a recent post describing the 52 Week Saving Money Challenge – particularly if you really want to save more money this year!
Thanks so much for watching! There will be other videos coming soon and my mom has promised that we have more than enough material for a ‘bloopers’ only video already. Awesome…I may need to go delete a few things while I have the chance…
