PC versus Mac – The Best Buy with Mike

Shopping expert Sarah takes on one of her greatest challenges: finding a costume at a thrift store! Paying for a new costume or buying materials for a homemade one is so wrong, especially when you need to save. They’re overpriced and cheaply made, especially if you’re just going to wear it for one night or a few performances. Instead, go hunting for your Halloween costume or theater ensemble at a thrift store where you can find a million costume ideas with just a good eye for what you need.

Thrift Store Costume Ideas – Shopping With Sarah

Sarah, our teen shopping expert, is all about getting an awesome deal. And she’s willing to go just about anywhere if it means saving a few dollars -- even the local Goodwill consignment store! Shopping consignment isn’t always easy, especially when you’re looking for affordable jeans. Sarah shares just how she gets into her Goodwill shopping zone and targets in on the perfect pair of pants with the perfectly low price tag.

Goodwill and The Zone – Shopping With Sarah

Recently I made an unplanned purchase and it really wasn't in my budget. I instantly regretted it! Here's my story and what I did about it.

Buyers Remorse And One Fabulous Day

When you don’t have much money to spend or you’re working with a limited budget, it can be hard to control yourself when shopping for new clothes or gifts for others. One of the best strategies I can share is to keep yourself thrifty. That is, make sure you walk into stores knowing what you can spend at all times. While it may not be a “treat yourself” kind of experience, you’ll get the most out of your money and time by having a thrifty shopper mindset.

Shopping With Sarah – Do You Have The Thrifty Shopper Mindset?

Yes, you can be fashionable and thrifty all at the same time! Thrift store shopping is how I score just about every stylish item in my closet from a pair of awesome silver heels to designer label jeans that have been barely worn. Getting past the “someone used it” part is tough, but when you learn how to make the most of your shopping experience, you can be frugal and turn heads while rocking the latest looks.

My First Try At Thrift Store Shopping

Shopping expert Sarah is all about repurposing wardrobes and spending less on today’s fashion. One look she is totally crushing on this season is, believe it or not, lace! Lace items can be expensive, but when done right and by using thrift store and cheap finds, you can make the vintage look work for you. Here’s how she plans on rocking this DIY style for less money than a new shirt at your favorite store.

I am already addicted to Dollar Tree for the cute, inexpensive sunglasses I never feel guilty for breaking or losing. But did you know that there is way, way more to Dollar Tree than just low-key accessories? I was blown away by all the savings I managed to score by checking out the other aisles. From essential school supplies and bedroom decor to must-have party favors and decorations, Dollar Tree is the place to get incredible deals on cheap items!

Dollar Tree – More Than Sunglasses

Sarah is usually all about shopping bags and trips to consignment shops. But today, she takes us to an entirely different place to land big fashion finds -- your own closet! It’s true! Your clothes have a ton of potential, even if it’s been years since you’ve worn them. She shows us how to repurpose old jeans into a cute skirt and use sites like Pinterest to create new outfit combinations. You’ll love making a shopping game out of it.

Here’s my confession: I really, really hate shopping at consignment shops. I know! They can save you a ton of money and they are full of hidden gems and deals, but I just can never find the time or patience to make the most of it. Sarah, my shopping idol, talks about how to overcome that bias by having a consignment store plan and strategies. She really knows how to get past the fear and find a deal!

Shopping with Sarah – Consignment Store Bias

Shopping smart means thinking about of the box, especially when it comes to stores. While I’m not a huge fan of shopping malls, I’m also not a fan of big box stores like Costco. But I was totally surprised when I found out that Costco has a clothing section with cute workout gear, fun accessories, and even stylish dresses! This is a big change for me, but I am starting to really get into thrifty shopping when there’s so many more deals to have!

If you find yourself without your cash, license, IDs, or credit cards, there’s a few steps you have to do right away. This article walks you through what you can do now to keep your money safe and possibly even get back what you lost or was stolen.

Lost Or Stolen Wallet? 7 Things To Do Now

A few years ago, I interviewed college student Tim Ciello about how he managed to land a full-ride scholarship to his dream school. Now, he’s back (and graduated) to talk about what life without student loan debt is like and what his scholarships ended up not covering. While he admits that he hasn’t exactly figured out money as an adult yet, he has learned tons of valuable money and life lessons during his time as a student.

Dog-sitting is an awesome job for responsible teenagers who love to be around animals and can work independently. Plus, it’s perfect to work around your school or work schedule. I had my first dog-sitting experience (with a super cute Australian Labradoodle), and now I’m convinced this may be the most perfect first job for teens looking for a little extra cash. Don’t forget to check the pics to see the cute dog snaps I took!
