Hey everyone! It’s been very exciting around here in the last few weeks as we put the finishing touches on the new TeensGotCents and I can’t wait to hear what you think of the new look!
First of all I have to say a fond farewell to the site mom and I put together over two and a half years ago. I will miss my little pink piggy just a little – but not all that much to be perfectly honest. I’m proud of what we were able to do on our own but…well…you know…
The new look is brought to you by Emily White Designs. Emily is an amazing designer and I am so glad we chose her! We looked through many portfolios but I was drawn to the crisp clean design you see in Emily’s work. When my Papa passed away she graciously put the entire project on hold for months and has been incredibly patient with us during this whole time. I can’t imagine anyone being more kind or professional.
I also want to acknowledge a group of my readers who became my ‘design team’ for the new site. They walked through each step of the design process and gave their advice on the logo and the colors chosen. To be honest, almost everything you see here was chosen by the team. Thanks guys!
In reality, although the site looks a LOT better, nothing has really changed around here. I will still be writing about going to college debt free, shopping smart, buying a reliable car, getting a great part time job or how to start your own business as well as fun DIY projects that can save money. And yes, I will still encourage teens to start saving for retirement even though it seems so far off!
One of the new things you might notice is a couple of ads on the site here and there. These will only be from organizations that are partnering with me by sponsoring TeensGotCents. These types of sponsorships allow me to cover the costs of running the website and reach my goal of attending college debt free. You can be sure that I will only ever partner with those who are committed to helping teens and other young adults have a secure financial future.
I am particularly grateful to 121 Financial Credit Union for sponsoring TeensGotCents for over a year and a half now. Their commitment to teens, college students and young adults is amazing and I couldn’t imagine trying to do all of this without their support.
Most of all I want to thank all of my readers. There are about 8,000 of us now and I am so encouraged to see you guys coming over and visiting me so often. So many people say that teens don’t care about money, don’t care about their financial future, and generally don’t know how to prepare for or run their own lives. That just isn’t true. If you are thinking about your future and want to be taken seriously as a teen you are not alone and we would love for you to join us!
If you have any suggestions for articles you would like to see here please let me know in the comments. I would also love to hear your feedback on the new site. It might take some getting used to but I hope you will come to love it as much as I do!
