Why You Don’t Have to Buy a New Winter Wardrobe

by Karina Rovey 4 Comments

For many of us, the changing seasons can trick us into emptying our wallets on clothes every year. It’s easy to feel like we need a completely different closet for each time of year. During the winter, tank tops, sleeveless dresses, and skirts get tossed aside to make room for more “wintery” clothes. But who says you can’t wear all of your clothes year round? Just remember these easy summer-to-winter fashion hacks for a winter wardrobe and you’ll look cute, stay warm, and save money too!

With these easy summer-to-winter fashion hacks, you don't have to buy a new winter wardrobe! These will help you stay warm, look cute and save money too!

1.

Wear knee-high socks with boots and a skirt or dress. It’ll give off major hipster coffee shop vibes, and your legs will stay nice and warm.

2.

Tights, tights, tights! Tights have always been my go-to winter piece. You can wear them with practically anything- shorts, dresses, skirts, even rompers!

3.

Put a close-fitting turtleneck under a sleeveless dress. Turtlenecks under overalls can be a statement piece as well!

4.

Match florals with darker colors. Florals by themselves may scream summer, but pair a floral item with black or other dark colors and your outfit automatically becomes winter-chic.

With these easy summer-to-winter fashion hacks, you don't have to buy a new winter wardrobe! These will help you stay warm, look cute and save money too!

5.

Casual is key when it comes to wearing a sweatshirt over a dress. What could be more comfortable? Grab your favorite sneakers, and you’re ready to go.

6.

Use a scarf to winter-fy your outfit. You can never go wrong with a cute scarf, especially when it comes to wearing them with those oh-so-popular strapless shirts.

7.

It may go without being said- but anything can become cold-weather when worn with the right jacket or cardigan. I have three go-tos: a jean jacket, a tan cardigan, and an athletic zip-up. I love wearing my summery tank tops or crop tops and just throwing on that extra layer!

So the next time you go to find an outfit on a cold winter’s day, remember that you’re not just limited to your fuzzy sweaters and sweatpants. Practically anything can work, even your summer buys, with just a little bit of fashion know-how. How does that saying go? “When your wallet feels good, you look good,” right? 🙂
