Do you have trouble finding pictures to use with your blog posts? Us too! For the most part we take our own pictures for TeensGotCents and just make do with what we get. No fancy camera here – we use our iPhones. I know. It’s pathetic – but it’s what we have and buying a camera for this project is NOT it the budget! So where does one go to find free blog images?
Snagging pics from google images is frowned upon. You don’t know who the picture belongs to and the assumption is that you are trying to conduct your online presence with some level of integrity. It can be very difficult to give credit to the owner of the image and is just too much work in my opinion.
I have spent a fair amount of time searching for a reliable picture source. There are many paid services out there – iStockPhoto is my favorite. However, paying for pictures is in the budget kinda like buying a new camera. It just isn’t going to happen! So what’s a blogger supposed to do? Find free images! There are a lot of sites out there that claim to be a source for free images but unfortunately it usually isn’t true.
We have tried out many places that say they have free pictures but when you go to download said picture? Yep. A charge appears. So frustrating. Thankfully I have found an excellent source for free pictures that has great images that are truly FREE. The pics are normally on the small side – but have always been plenty big for this site.
FreeDigitalPhotos is exactly that – a huge library of images that are absolutely free. If you decide that you need a large image for some reason you can get it for a reasonable charge. However, you can download any picture for free! The only requirement is that you give credit to the contributor as well as the site. They give you exactly what to say if you have them email the details of the download to your inbox – then you just copy and paste!
Having photos on your site really adds to the look and feel of each post. Eva wrote about that a few months ago in a post titled 5 Ways to Ruin Your Blog. It’s all about how to use pictures effectively. And you just can’t beat free!
We are not affiliated with FreeDigitalPhotos in any way. They don’t know who we are. We just wanted to share because they are a great resource!
I’ve run into the same problem about using photos from the web. It’s important to respect and give credit to the photographer. Thanks for posting about this site! I will check it out.
Pixabay is a great website for FREE high quality stock photos. You don’t need to give credit, you can just download the photo and use it in your blog post 🙂 I just found out about this website and so far I’m really liking it 😀
WordPress partners with Pexels for free photos, which is works great for me. While Pexels doesn’t have a TON of photos, they get the job done for me.
