How to Save on Self Care

by Ashley Davis 8 Comments

Self care can be expensive. Sometimes, you just want to throw your own personal spa day, but it can be expensive if you require Lush bath bombs and Yankee Candles to relax. So here are some tricks to save money while still treating yourself well!

Start by deciding what kind of self care you want. If you want to enjoy a nice book on a cloudy day, that looks vastly different than a full-on spa day.

Unwind

For the days where I just want to calm my mind, I find lots of ways to save. I normally start by lighting a candle, but these are the typically the small ones I can get on sale at Bath and Body Works. These can end up being 50% off after Christmas time, so I normally stock up for the rest of the year.

I like to meditate or listen to calming sounds, which you can do for free. Youtube has tons of guided meditation, but I typically use a free app called Pacifca, which allows you to set goals and work towards improving mental health.

You can also curl up with a calming book and put rain noises on in the background or listen to an audiobook on Youtube. These are calming and keep you from falling asleep at the same time.

On these days I also like to watch Bob Ross. His videos are so calming and he is just so happy, the feeling seems almost contagious.

Spa Day

Other days, I’m looking for a full spa. These can be more expensive, but they don’t have to be.

I start by taking a bath or shower, using Bath and Body works because they smell nice and they have those huge sales every once in a while. I got a whole line from the body wash, to the lotion and perfume for 75% off after Christmas. You can’t beat it. It’s a great time to stock up for the year and never pay full price!

If you want a bath bomb, you can make them yourself, or get them at places like Target for $3 for a bag instead of $6 for one bomb, which is what you normally get at places like Lush.

While you’re doing this, you can put on guided meditation or your favorite artist or playlist on shuffle and just sit back and relax until you get all pruny.

Afterward, you might feel like a face mask is necessary. You can often find these on sale at Ulta for 3 for $3. This is a steal because they leave your skin feeling amazing and cost next to nothing.

Finally, maybe you feel like doing your nails, I know I normally do. I always buy polish at Publix because it always seems to be on sale and super cheap, plus shopping at Publix is fun.  Normally I pick out a new color and paint away! Of course, using the same color over again will save you money and it is just as cute.

Another way to get good deals on polish is to check you local beauty supply stores, wait for a coupon for Ulta or Sephora.

I hope these tips will help you plan your next spa day without breaking the bank! Have fun relaxing!

Me too! The last time I got a pedicure it was so expensive. It’s much more affordable to just do it yourself!
