Creative Collaboration and Stylebook App Review – Shopping With Sarah

by Sarah Fechtel 2 Comments

“I think there is beauty in everything. What ‘normal’ people would perceive as ugly, I can usually see something of beauty in it.”

“It’s a new era in fashion – there are no rules. It’s all about the individual and personal style, wearing high-end, low-end, classic labels, and up-and-coming designers all together.”

— Alexander McQueen

Creative Collaboration

I’m lounging on my comfy bed, Michael Buble Christmas gems are nestled in my Spotify playlist and my nails are painted a fresh coat of deep red (it’s a challenge to type with wet nails. Seriously. #TheStruggle). (As a note, I guess you could say I’m one of those people who rush in Christmas…I really would have been OK with turning on the holiday tunes a month ago, but maybe that’s overkill.)

I’m quite excited about this post! As you can see from the quoted text above, I have a new favorite fashion expert! Alexander McQueen put forth some pure brilliance. It’s true that you can pretty much wear anything nowadays. Don’t believe me? Look at this:

Peter Lim

Don’t even think about it…

I’m sorry. OK. Please, don’t even think about wearing that combo. Can you believe these outfits were designed by Peter Lim, a new designer for Target? Yeah. Neither can I.

Back to my point! I came across this great app called “Stylebook.” I bought it for $3.99 and it’s worth every penny. The app basically allows you to take pictures of individual items from your wardrobe, categorize them and use them to create outfits! You can create a whole library of different “looks”! If you are pinched for time or money, you can peek into your look library and find the perfect outfit idea!

As a note, you can easily screenshot your look and send it to a friend to ask “How do you like this?” or, “Is this too dressy for tonight’s party?”

Here are some looks that I came up with from my very own closet!

Now I won’t forget this outfit…

Or this one…

Or this one either. It’s the worst to forget the great clothes that you already have!

This is a great project for a rainy afternoon (it’s raining where I am! Ah, perfect!). For me, the categorizing and arranging items from my wardrobe got me excited! I now have a new-found affection for those clothes I have had for a while! I am super visual, so envisioning new outfits through the Stylebook app was especially fun for me.

Here is another exciting feature of the Stylebook app: you can place your outfits on a calendar to plan for vacations/busy weeks (when you have NO time to think about being cute). Take a look!

I feel so very organized!

I tend to be a horrible packer. Well, let’s just say that I’m an “over-prepared” packer. I tend to pack so much more clothing than I would ever wear because I’m SURE that I would end up running out of clothing, would not like a certain outfit I packed, etc. Now that I have this app, that problem has a definite solution!

That’s pretty cool. I always wondered how people made those look book-like posts on Pinterest. That would be a really well invest $4 if it makes anyone rethink going out shopping. I think it could definitely breathe some new life into my closet.

I agree Mel! I’m so glad that Sarah reviewed this app. I’m going to give it a try myself and see if it helps me to stop wearing the same things over and over.
