Teen Bedroom MakeOver Ideas from IKEA

by Eva Leave a Comment

Are you looking for some teen bedroom makeover ideas? Look at the great (and affordable) things I found at IKEA!

My mom and I are moving from the house where I grew up. We are staying in the same city but moving much closer to my grandparents. This will also put me closer to the college campus where I hope to attend next year. We are also downsizing quite a bit so our oversized furniture just won’t fit. We have been shocked at the cost of buying new things and even furniture consignment stores seem really expensive for used items.

Since we are only a couple of hours away from an IKEA we decided to stop in the last time we were out of town. I am so glad we did! Not only did we find a ton of things that we really loved, we were surprised at the affordable prices. Most of the furniture is designed for small spaces so it really met our needs.

When we first found out we were moving my mom found a two person desk from Pottery Barn that was perfect and beautiful. And over a thousand dollars. $1,219 to be exact. And we considered it for about 5 minutes. Unfortunately we couldn’t find a used one for sale anywhere so my mom’s dreams of an amazing desk/project table from Pottery Barn died a pretty quick death.

At over $1,200 this is one dream that was never coming true!

Happily we found a substitute at IKEA.  We purchased two bookshelves with the cube like cubbies and attached two table tops to the shelves. It isn’t the same as the Pottery Barn desk but it is close enough. At only about $175 for the whole set it definitely made us happy!

I also found a few things for my new room! For some time I have wanted a cute way to display pictures in my room that didn’t involve any kind of frame. Everything I have looked at has been so expensive or been the type of DIY project that would have taken me forever. Look what IKEA has!

Only $12.99 for everything! I can’t wait to get it up in my new room!

I also found another item for my room that I am really excited about. It is a grandfather style clock with a bit of a modern twist on it. I chose it because it really goes with my antique furniture. My dad’s grandmother had some beautiful antique furniture that no one else in the family wanted so I got all of it! I am so glad to have it. As you can see below the clock part is one of those huge stickers for the wall! I was able to buy a clock that fits into the circle at the top – the perfect modern grandfather clock!

It’s over six feet tall – I’m so excited to get it up on the wall!

We were exhausted by the end of the day but it was so worth it.

I had to sit down at the end of the day after all the shopping. My feet hurt but I was pretty happy!

For about the same price as the Pottery Barn desk we got the following:

Dining Room Table

6 Chairs for the table

Sideboard thingy to match the table

2 Desks with bookcases

and a LOT of accessory pieces for the whole house and the things for my bedroom!

If you are thinking about redoing your room or just wanting a couple of pieces to make it look fresh and new be sure to take a look at IKEA. It really is an affordable option for most of us and you can place an online order if you don’t happen to live close by.

IKEA doesn’t know who I am, this is not a sponsored post, but even if it was I would still give you my honest opinion. And my opinion is that IKEA is a great way to find some amazing deals on affordable items for a room makeover!

As a helicopter pilot with the US Navy, he’s had to really work his way to the top, and one of the ways he did this is by styling himself in a way that was memorable and professional. Dog-sitting is an awesome job for responsible teenagers who love to be around animals and can work independently. Plus, it’s perfect to work around your school or work schedule. I had my first dog-sitting experience (with a super cute Australian Labradoodle), and now I’m convinced this may be the most perfect first job for teens looking for a little extra cash. Don’t forget to check the pics to see the cute dog snaps I took!
