As most of you know, my mom and I got to go to St. Louis in October to attend FinCon, a conference for financial bloggers. We had so much fun and I learned so much. One of the evenings at FinCon is the Ignite event and I was one of the speakers this year. I was very nervous (and by nervous I mean that I thought I was going to be sick) to be speaking in front of such a large crowd especially because everyone was older than me. You can learn all of the details about Ignite in an article that I wrote a few weeks ago.
After getting to know so many great people at the conference I wasn’t surprised to find that the crowd was encouraging and supportive of all the speakers. Eric Rosenberg of Narrow Bridge Finance was the organizer for the Ignite event and Steve Stewart of Money Plan SOS edited and posted the video’s for us. They both did a great job! The room had to be dark so that everyone could see the slide so the lighting is off some, but here it is – My Ignite FinCon’13 speech:
Participating in Ignite was a great experience for me. A few years ago I did some public speaking but I have to say that getting the timing down with the slide automatically advancing was pretty tough. I practiced and practiced. There are some things that I wish I had done better but the truth is that nothing is ever going to be perfect. I really enjoyed the other speeches that evening as well and you can take a look at them HERE.

That was wonderful! You did a good job, pulled together lots of good, fun details and the crowd loved you. Keep it up!
Thank you so much! 🙂
Great talk! I’d never thought about how owling and planking and all the other brilliant ideas that surface while in high school (the milk challenge was a big one when I was in school) are reflective of the boredom and lack of responsibility bestowed on your age group – although now that you’ve observed it, I’d say you’re spot on!
Thanks Mel! I’ve never even heard of the milk challenge – sounds scary! 😉 I really do believe that if teens were given more opportunities to live real life that it would make a difference for our generation.
