About a year ago I was having breakfast with Anthony Cantonese, who is a successful entrepreneur. I told him about a goal I had set for myself. I was convinced he would be impressed. He was not.
I decided to try and read a book every week last summer. Books that would help me in my business. This was a huge goal for me. I am not a great reader and generally don’t read very much. He took one look at me and said, “No, you are absolutely not going to use your summer reading a book every week.”
Blinkist
He went on to tell me all about Blinkist. Blinkist provides a service through their website (and an app) that summarizes books for you. Anthony told me that it wasn’t a good investment of my time to read so many business books when Blinkist will pull out the most important information for you in a shortened format. Most ‘blinks’ take about 15 minutes to read.
As of now, there are over 2,000 books to choose from and they add about 40 new books every month. It would be just about impossible to ever run out of books, in my opinion.
As a young entrepreneur I want to learn from successful people in the world and you probably do as well. However, some books are worth purchasing and keeping and some aren’t. To be honest, most of us teens don’t have the money to buy a new book every week in the first place. With Blinkist you can read the summary and determine if it would help you to go ahead and invest in the book and read the whole thing.

I got it for $39.99 because I found a coupon code that worked!
The Miracle Morning
One of the first books I ‘read’ on Blinkist was ‘The Miracle Morning’ by Hal Elrod. I had never heard of it until I read about how it transformed Pat Flynn’s life over on Smart Passive Income. The summary outlines the exact method of how to transform the way you approach your morning and helps you establish a routine.
Basically, the author’s premise is that a morning routine can directly influence how successful you are in life. Completing specific activities every morning translates to a successful day which leads to a successful life. This book has changed people. They believe the changes they made to their mornings made an incredible difference in their lives.
Being able to gather this information in 15 minutes verses reading a whole book has been valuable to me over the last few months.
Blinkist has 16 categories covering business, productivity, leadership, entrepreneurship, communication, psychology and science. It’s a great tool for the busy high school or college student.
Valuable Shortcut
A lot of people say that you can’t take shorcuts in life but Blinkist, is a noteworthy exception. First of all, you don’t have to read every entrepreneurial book out there and you don’t have the time anyways. Blinkist is a great way for you to get the gist of a book. If it’s really helpful and you want to know more you can always purchase the book or borrow it from the library.
If you are interested in being a teen entrepreneur then seriously consider adding the Blinkist app. You could easily read a new book every day this summer. There is quite a bit of evidence to show that the most successful people in the world read for hours every day. Blinkist makes it easy to join them!
