Where To Go For Driving School

by Charisma Maddox 26 Comments

When it comes to driving it is important that you know everything and anything to keep you and the others around you safe. Although it can be expensive driving school may be worth it when you keep in mind the benefits that come along with the classes

Nearly 1.3 million people die in car accidents every year due to lack of knowledge on the rules of the road. Doing something as a simple as taking driving lessons or a drivers ed course at your school can be very beneficial. For example, depending on where you live you can possibly earn a 10% discount on car insurance if you have attended driving school or drivers ed.

Although it seems as if driving lessons can be pretty expensive there are still may solid options that are reasonable and affordable. There are a couple of places you can go for driving school.

Drivers Ed is Not Driving School

First off I would like to say that there is a difference between driving lessons and Drivers Ed. Driving lessons are normally taken outside of school at a facility. Drivers Ed is usually a course offered at your school which takes place during the school day. Taking Drivers Ed at school is most definitely cheaper than taking a class out of school. At my school the Drivers Ed course is around $325 and you are able to earn your permit at the same time. Unfortunately every school doesn’t have the same course as mine but don’t worry! I’ve got you covered.

Green Light Driving School

Green Light Driving school is a great driving school to insure success when on the road. One of my sisters took her driving lessons at green light, earned her permit, then her license and was driving within the next month or so. She said, “the driving experience with green light was great with nice instructors at a good price”.  At Green Light there are multiple options for a person to choose from.

The cheapest class is $145 that includes 30 hours of in class instructions. The most expensive class is $505 that includes 30 hours of in class instruction plus 8 hours behind the wheel instruction. There are different classes in between that allow both learning experience in the class and behind the wheel.

My adorable nephew is getting an early start on learning to drive!

Top Driver Driving School

Top Driver is yet another great driving school to get your money’s worth. This school offers in vehicle monitoring along with  2 teenagers per car for 2 hours at $120. Driving alongside other teenagers and seeing their perspective of driving can be a very beneficial thing especially for teens. It is scientifically proven that we learn better observing the act than performing it. At Top Driver you also have the option to make some of your classes private if necessary at any point or time.

When it comes to driving it is important that you know everything and anything to keep you and the others around you safe. Although it might seem impossible to afford driving school you should keep in mind the benefits that come along with it.

I had no idea that there was a difference between the drivers ed courses and driving school! I haven’t taken a driving school class, but I think it could be something I would find interesting. I have a son who is getting ready to drive, so we’re looking for the best option for him. Thanks for the ideas!

Driving school for $120 doesn’t seem like a bad idea at all. It’d be nice if I were able to get my daughter into driving school within the next month, that way she can finally drive herself around. Although, she could use a little bit of practice when driving, she tends to swerve around the road a bit.

Thanks for all the information! I didn’t even know there was such thing as driver’s school; I thought my only option was driver’s ed. at my school. I really like having my eyes opened to all the options I actually have, and it’s nice to know about cost differences. Thank you!

Thanks for the great information about driving school because my daughter is almost at the age to get her license. That makes sense that there is a big difference between drivers Ed in school and an actual driving school. When I have children, I think it would be worth the extra money to make sure she knows more about the road and end up being safer on the road.

I like how you talked about drivers ed and driving lessons being different. I didn’t know that you could get your permit at the same time as finishing your driving lessons. My nephew is about to start driving. His parents will have to research this some more before they decide.

My son just turned 16 and has been putting off taking drivers ed in school. I think I am just going to have to put him in a driving school so that he can finally get his license and I can stop driving him around everywhere. I would feel a lot safer knowing that I am able to choose the company that teaches him rather than in school and never knew that I could possibly get a discount on my car insurance for going through drivers school instead of drivers ed! That is something that I will definitely be looking into!

Hi, Charisma! I’m so glad that I stumbled upon your website! I’ve been thinking about whether or not to enroll my child in driving school. I think you’re absolutely right — it’s important that you’re researching the differences between drivers ed and driving schools in your area. I think my area offers a more comprehensive driving school program, so I’m going to go there to inquire more about their services. Thank for sharing this information with us!
