I have been saving my clothing money up in anticipation of getting some new things for spring. What I have really needed for quite a while now is some gym clothes. It isn’t important to have name brand clothes to me – for any clothes but especially for the gym – but I have discovered that the better quality items last so much longer than pieces that I have gotten from the less expensive stores. In the long run paying a little more up front means a savings for me. I don’t have that much to spend on clothes so it’s important for me to use my funds very carefully.
Yesterday, my mom had some shopping to do at Costco and we decided to take a look at the clothing there. Now. Costco is not normally where I think to shop for clothing. Everyone knows that Maurices is my favorite store and that I do a lot of shopping at Target as well. I avoid the mall like the plague because it is so expensive. Whenever I do buy less expensive things my mom and I are careful to wash them on a gentle cycle and/or hang them up to dry so that they will last longer. But that would get pretty tedious since I go to the gym four times almost every week.
While we were at Costco we found some great deals on good quality workout wear. I got two new pairs of yoga style capri pants, two shirts, exercise bras and even some cami’s to wear as undershirts for almost half of what I would normally pay (on sale) for those items. And this was just the regular Costco price. The best part is that these things are really good quality and I know that they will hold up for a long time. I also got a maxi dress for $19.99 that is going to be fabulous for summer.
If you or your parents have a Costco membership you should consider taking a look the next time that you are there. We even noticed that their socks are a good bit less expensive than the ones I normally buy at discount stores. They have the regular plain white socks but they also have a good selection of cute, colorful socks as well. And yes, that is very important to me, thanks for asking…
Although I wasn’t there shopping for nail polish, most of what I have is old and starting to get goopy. We spotted this pack of nail polish and it was just under $7 dollars. For the whole pack! That’s almost as cheap as the dollar store.
Shopping smart means thinking outside of the box and yesterday’s shopping trip has shown me that I need to be on the lookout for good deals everywhere. I have always thought of Costco as the place where my mom gets good deals on massive packs of yogurt and fruit, and the reason why we have enough TP to last for a year in our garage. It’s good to know that it can be a source of savings for me as well!
